Protesters Gather in Imperial County to Oppose Trump’s Mass Deportation Order

El Centro- Recently, protesters from across Imperial County gathered at the corner of Imperial Avenue and Bradshaw Avenue to peacefully protest against Trump’s mass deportation order. The protest began on February 7 and lasted throughout the day, continuing past dark.

The peaceful demonstration was organized by Imperial Valley for Human Rights, a nonprofit advocacy group dedicated to uniting the community for equality. As cars passed by, drivers honked their horns in support while protesters held signs with messages like “NO Ban, NO Wall, NO Raids,” along with more vulgar ones, such as “F**k ICE.”

“I’m here to stand up for what’s right. They’re going into schools and churches, and people really think this is okay?!” one participant told us.

The protest, which was heavily promoted on social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook, drew a crowd of around 100 people or more. This demonstration follows mass protests across the country, including in Los Angeles and San Diego. Meanwhile, leaked documents suggest rumors of an upcoming “mass deportation” operation in Los Angeles.

Overall, Community members left the protest committed to continue fighting for immigrant rights and to let their voice be heard.
