Multi-Agency Operation “GRINCH” Cracks Down on Crime in Imperial County

Imperial County, CA - December 22, 2023

In a strategic collaboration, law enforcement agencies, including the Imperial County Sheriff’s Office, Imperial County Probation Department, California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, Homeland Security Investigations, California Highway Patrol, Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms, and the United States Border Patrol joined forces for Operation Grinch on Friday, December 22, 2023.

The operation was prompted by a surge in reports of burglaries and thefts in the North County areas of Calipatria, Westmorland, Niland, and Slabs. Coordinated efforts were deployed to address the growing concerns and ensure the safety of residents.

At numerous residences, law enforcement teams made a significant impact, resulting in the arrest of seven individuals with outstanding warrants. Among those apprehended were:

1. Paul Thompson (DOB: 12-24-81):

• Warrant for Possession of Stolen Property and Grand Theft ($10,000).

• Warrant for Resisting, Obstructing, or Delaying a Peace Officer ($1500).

• Additional charge of Resisting, Obstructing, or Delaying a Peace Officer.

2. Jessica Atkinson (DOB: 9-5-76):

• Warrant for DUI ($5000).

3. Vincent Barrigan (DOB: 12-17-66):

• Warrant for Brandishing a Deadly Weapon ($10,000).

4. Dale Sims Jr. (DOB: 4-3-63):

• Warrant for Resisting, Obstructing, or Delaying a Peace Officer ($1000).

5. Eduardo Zavala (DOB: 5-28-93):

• Warrant for Resisting, Obstructing, or Delaying a Peace Officer ($2500).

6. Donita Boarman (DOB: 11-9-65):

• Warrant for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia ($1500).

7. Gilbert Carbajal (DOB: 7-27-68):

• Warrant for Driving on a Suspended Driver’s License for DUI ($2000).

The Imperial County Sheriff’s Office expressed gratitude to all participating agencies for their concerted efforts in executing Operation Grinch. The operation reflects a commitment to maintaining community safety and addressing criminal activities affecting the region.
