Imperial County Celebrates Milestone with Wiest Lake ADA Inclusive Playground
In a historic moment for the County of Imperial, community leaders and public officials gathered yesterday to proudly inaugurate the Wiest Lake Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant inclusive playground. This grand opening marks a significant leap forward in fostering inclusivity and community spirit within Imperial County.
The playground, a testament to the County's unwavering dedication, stands as the first ADA compliant inclusive project initiated by Imperial County. It represents a visionary stride towards creating spaces where all children, regardless of ability, can play and thrive.
The realization of this remarkable achievement can be attributed to the collaborative efforts of the Imperial County Department of Public Works (ICDPW), the driving force behind the planning and construction of the project. Their commitment to inclusivity has set a precedent for future endeavors in the region.
District 4 Supervisor, Ryan Kelley, expressed excitement about the transformative impact of the Wiest Lake playground, stating, "This is the beginning of planned improvements for the County Park. In the months ahead, the County Parks Division will introduce additional features for the public's benefit. Our Board extends gratitude to County employees, citizens, and friends for raising awareness and contributing to the realization of Wiest Lake's potential."
As the playground opens its gates, Imperial County anticipates not only increased recreational opportunities but also a stronger sense of unity among residents. The Wiest Lake ADA Inclusive Playground project is not just a physical space but a symbol of the community's commitment to creating a welcoming environment for everyone, regardless of their abilities.
