City of Brawley Announces Main Street Infrastructure Improvements

Residents and businesses in Brawley are gearing up for upcoming infrastructure enhancements along Main Street, set to commence on April 8th, 2024. The City of Brawley Engineering Department has outlined a comprehensive plan aimed at improving water pipelines and paving along Main Street, stretching from 1st St./HWY 86 to Eastern Ave.

In an effort to minimize disruption and ensure smooth construction operations, residents and businesses are urged to extend their cooperation throughout the duration of the project. While access to certain streets will be restricted during construction activities, detours will be clearly marked to guide traffic around the affected areas.

During construction, residents will not have access to drive or walk on the streets undergoing work, although sidewalks along Main Street will remain open for pedestrian use. Emergency services, including police, fire, and medical responders, will maintain unimpeded access to the area at all times.

Despite the temporary inconveniences, businesses along Main Street will continue to operate as usual, with pedestrian access available directly from storefronts. However, parking arrangements will be adjusted, with limited parking available in the alleys and rear sections of businesses.

To ensure residents are adequately informed and prepared, individual doorknob hangers will be distributed to residences within restricted areas two days prior to construction commencement. Additionally, 'NO PARKING' signs will be prominently posted at least 48 hours in advance of construction operations to allow ample time for residents to plan their parking and transportation needs accordingly.

It's important to note that vehicles left parked on the street during construction will be subject to towing at the owner's expense, emphasizing the need for compliance with posted regulations.

The City of Brawley extends its appreciation to residents and businesses for their anticipated cooperation and patience during this vital infrastructure improvement project. For any inquiries or further information, residents are encouraged to contact the Public Works Department at (760) 344-5800.

With these enhancements, the City of Brawley looks forward to ensuring a safer, more efficient Main Street for all residents and visitors alike.
