Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson fight postponed following a Mike Tysons “medical emergency” last tuesday

Boxing legend Mike Tyson experienced a medical emergency while boarding a flight from Miami to Los Angeles, leading to the postponement of his highly anticipated match against YouTube star-turned-boxer Jake Paul. The incident occurred 30 minutes before landing, with Tyson becoming nauseous and dizzy due to an ulcer flare-up. Representatives have since confirmed that Tyson is "doing great" and feeling much better.

In a statement released on Friday May 31st 2024, it was announced that the upcoming match between Tyson and Paul will be postponed. Following a consultation with medical professionals on Thursday, Tyson was advised to engage in minimal to light training for the next few weeks to allow for recovery, before resuming full training without limitations.

"Both Mike and Jake are in agreement that it is only fair to ensure that both athletes have equal training time to prepare for this important match and are able to compete at the highest level. The health and well-being of athletes is our top priority, and we fully support Mike in taking the necessary time to allow him to perform at the level he expects of himself," the statement read.

Tyson expressed gratitude to his fans for their support and understanding during this time. "Unfortunately, due to my ulcer flare-up, I have been advised by my doctor to lighten my training for a few weeks to rest and recover," Tyson said. "My body is in better overall shape than it has been since the 1990s, and I will be back to my full training schedule soon. Jake Paul, this may have bought you some time, but in the end, you will still be knocked out and out of boxing for good. I appreciate everyone's patience and can't wait to deliver an unforgettable performance later this year."

Jake Paul also voiced his support for postponing the event, emphasizing the importance of facing Tyson at his best. "My fans know I don't want to face Iron Mike at anything but his best, but let there be no mistake - when he steps into the ring with me, I will be ready to claim my W with a sensational finish," Paul stated. "Paul vs Tyson will be one for the ages, and I promise to bring my best for this once-in-a-lifetime matchup."

The match is expected to be rescheduled later this year at AT&T Stadium. Most Valuable Promotions assured fans that previously purchased tickets would be honored for the new date, with no action needed to keep current tickets and seat locations. Those unable to attend the rescheduled date are eligible for a refund at their original point of purchase. Refund requests can be made by contacting SeatGeek at dallascowboys@seatgeek.com with the subject line "Paul vs. Tyson."

Fans eagerly await the announcement of the new date for this highly anticipated bout, which is set to be revealed by next Friday, June 7th.
