Tragic Incident unfolds in Calexico: Possible Murder-Suicide Under Investigation

Calexico, CA – The Calexico Police Department is investigating a tragic incident that occurred this morning, believed to be a possible murder-suicide, in the parking lot of the One Stop establishment.

At approximately 8:58 AM, officers were dispatched to the scene following reports of two individuals with injuries. Witnesses reported that a woman had entered the One Stop establishment, informing others that her husband was outside, before quickly exiting. Moments later, loud noises were heard, and a second witness discovered the woman seated in her vehicle with a man lying just outside the vehicle, both suffering from gunshot wounds.

Tragically, the woman succumbed to her injuries at the scene despite immediate response efforts. The man was provided assistance by responding officers until paramedics arrived and transported him to Brawley Pioneer Memorial Hospital. Unfortunately, he later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

In response to the incident, additional resources were mobilized to support the ongoing investigation. The Imperial County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigations Unit, the Coroner’s Office, the Imperial County District Attorney’s Office Bureau of Investigations, and the U.S. Border Patrol are all involved in the investigation.

“Our thoughts and condolences are with the families affected by this tragic event,” stated the department.
