Hay Bale Fire Erupts Near Brawley Next to prior Bale Fire Site: Traffic Disrupted on Old Highway 111

Brawley, CA – On July 20, 2024, a fire broke out on Old Highway 111 near Brawley between 12:00 and 1:00 PM, igniting a hay bale and causing significant disruptions. The blaze erupted coincidentally next to a previously burned hay bale that had ignited on June 12th and burned for about a week.

Upon arrival, 760 News observed an Imperial County Fire Department firetruck and a Brawley firetruck on the scene, working diligently to control the flames. The fire prompted authorities to block roads at the intersection of Mead Road and Old Highway 111. As a result, drivers are urged to avoid the area until further notice.

Residents and commuters are advised to seek alternate routes and remain cautious as firefighters continue to manage the situation. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and no injuries have been reported at this time.
