Erickson-Hall Construction Co. Starts Construction on New Auto Tech Facility at Imperial Valley College

Imperial, CA — July 16, 2024

Erickson-Hall Construction Co. is thrilled to announce the start of construction on a state-of-the-art Auto Tech Facility at Imperial Valley College (IVC). This milestone marks the latest in a series of successful collaborations between Erickson-Hall and the Imperial Valley Community College District, aimed at enhancing educational infrastructure and resources for students and the community.

The new 33,000-square-foot Auto Tech, Diesel and Architectural Automation, Art and Maker Space building will feature cutting-edge facilities, including classrooms, lecture halls, digital photography areas, a darkroom for film processing, office space, computer labs, and dedicated auto bays with lifts. Additionally, the building will house workroom areas with tool storage, a hazardous waste disposal area, and solar-covered parking stalls for project cars.

“The new Auto/Diesel Technology and Art Laboratories building will provide our students with the latest technology and resources needed to succeed,” said Dr. Lennor M. Johnson, Superintendent of the Imperial Valley College District. “We are excited for the Erickson-Hall team to deliver a high-quality building that fosters creativity and innovation.”

Ongoing and Future Projects

The groundbreaking for the Auto Tech Facility on May 29 follows the recent grand opening of another Erickson-Hall project at IVC: the Athletic Concessions Stand and Restrooms Building. This facility, which opened on June 6, includes a concession stand with upgraded lighting, restrooms, dressing rooms, a maintenance room, an electrical room, a data room, and site improvements.

As part of this project, Erickson-Hall coordinated with the Imperial County Office of Education (ICOE) to install a Borderlink Antenna at IVC. This installation expands the ICOE’s internet framework, providing students and nearby households with free internet access.

These efforts build on Erickson-Hall’s previous successful projects at IVC, including the renovation of three campus buildings last year. Looking ahead, the company is set to begin construction on a new Public Safety Regional Training Center, a Maintenance and Operations Warehouse, and soccer field renovations at the IVC campus.

“Erickson-Hall is incredibly proud of its partnership with Imperial Valley College District and the role we’ve played to deliver improvements across campus that benefit students, staff, faculty, and community members alike,” said Mat Gates, President of Erickson-Hall. “The Auto Tech Facility project represents a significant investment in the future of skilled trades education. We are honored to build a space where students can receive the training they need to excel in their careers.”
