90-Year-Old Woman Killed in Hit-and-Run; Suspect Ana Gonzalez, 34, Arrested
BRAWLEY CA — A tragic hit-and-run collision on Monday evening has claimed the life of a 90-year-old woman. The incident occurred at approximately 6:59 PM at the intersection of Western Avenue and J Street, according to a press release from the Brawley Police Department.
Officers arrived at the scene to find the elderly woman severely injured. She was immediately transported to Pioneer memorial hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
The Brawley Investigations Team swiftly began working on the case. Debris recovered from the crime scene identified the suspect vehicle as a 2015 Dodge Dart.
On the evening of Tuesday, December 3, detectives located a dark-colored Dodge Dart on the 200 block of Main Street. The vehicle had significant damage to its front windshield and driver-side mirror, consistent with a hit-and-run. Investigators linked it to the fatal collision.
Ana Gonzalez, a 34-year-old Brawley resident, was identified as the driver. During questioning, she confessed to her involvement in the incident. Gonzalez was arrested and booked into Imperial County Jail on charges of felony hit-and-run, vehicular manslaughter, and destruction of evidence. Her bail was set at $75,000.
