ECPD K-9 Officer Discovers 131 pounds of Methamphetamine in Traffic Stop, worth an estimated $850,000

El Centro - In a remarkable display of law enforcement prowess, the ECPD K-9 unit recently uncovered a significant drug bust during a routine traffic stop. Last week, an ECPD K-9 Officer initiated a traffic enforcement stop on a vehicle for a minor traffic violation. What seemed like a routine procedure quickly escalated when K-9 Jax, a highly trained canine officer, detected something suspicious during a vehicle sniff.

Upon investigation, K-9 Jax signaled a positive alert, prompting officers to conduct a thorough search of the vehicle. The search yielded a staggering 131 pounds of methamphetamine, with an estimated street value of $847,362.

The driver of the vehicle was promptly arrested and booked into the county jail, facing charges related to the possession and trafficking of illegal narcotics. This successful operation underscores the vital role played by K-9 units in law enforcement efforts to combat drug trafficking and keep communities safe.
