City of Brawley Welcomes Cristhian Barajas as New Development Services Director
BRAWLEY, CA - The City of Brawley is excited to announce the appointment of Cristhian Barajas as the new Development Services Director. With over 15 years of experience in urban planning and design, Barajas brings a strong background in sustainable development, public engagement, and strategic planning.
Originally from Tijuana, Mexico, Barajas earned a Bachelors degree in Architecture before pursuing a Masters in Landscape Architecture from Cal Poly Pomona and a Masters in Urban Planning from USC. His early career included projects across Baja California and the U.S., with a focus on landscape design and urban planning
Barajas later became a Senior Planner with the City of San Diegos Planning Department, where he helped shape public engagement policies and worked on major projects across Southern California, including the Exposition Park Master Plan, California High-Speed Rail, and various citywide initiatives.
In his new role, Barajas is committed to fostering inclusive and forward-thinking development, streamlining city planning processes, and maximizing resource efficiency. His leadership will be key in shaping Brawleys future growth while ensuring a balance between innovation and sustainability.
