California Agricultural Workers Honored at 44th Annual Farm Workers Appreciation Breakfast

In a longstanding tradition, the Employment Development Department (EDD) celebrated the tireless contributions of California's agricultural workers at the 44th Annual Farm Workers Appreciation Breakfast. Held in Calexico, California, this event brought together EDD staff, local volunteers, and approximately 2,500 Imperial County agricultural workers.

Before the break of dawn, workers were treated to a hearty breakfast featuring tamales, beans, salsa, sweet bread, and coffee. This annual gathering serves as a poignant acknowledgment of the essential role these workers play in sustaining not only the local community but also contributing to the food supply of California, the entire nation, and beyond.

For over four decades, the EDD, in collaboration with local partners, has organized this event to express gratitude for the unwavering dedication and hard work of agricultural workers. Beyond a simple meal, the Farm Workers Appreciation Breakfast stands as a symbol of recognition for the invaluable contributions these individuals make to the state's economy.

The event reflects a collective effort to honor and appreciate the resilience of agricultural workers, highlighting their integral part in the intricate web of California's agricultural landscape. As the morning sun rises over Calexico, it illuminates not just fields of crops but also the hardworking individuals who cultivate the prosperity of the state.
