Calexico Police Department Partners with Global Veterans for Tactical Training Course

The Calexico Police Department recently hosted a specialized training course in Ballistic Shield and Bounding/Overwatch techniques. Conducted by Randy Nunez from Global Veterans (GVPS), a San Diego-based private security company, the course focused on enhancing the skills of law enforcement officers.

Randy Nunez, a former US Army Special Operations Forces (SOF) veteran who incurred disabling injuries in combat, generously provided the training at no charge. Participants, including members of the ECPD SWAT and Calexico police officers, engaged in hands-on learning sessions.

The comprehensive course covered various methods of ballistic shield use and tactics for safely locating and apprehending violent or dangerous offenders, particularly in areas with uneven terrain. The training's relevance was underscored by the similarity between the outskirts of Calexico and the training environment.

Expressing gratitude, the Calexico Police Officers Association (CPOA) urged the community to continue supporting tactical training initiatives, emphasizing their role in enhancing officers' safety and efficiency. The CPOA specifically highlighted the importance of SWAT-level training for its officers.

Global Veterans (GVPS), known for its expertise in commercial security, threat assessment, school safety, and tactical training for SWAT units, provided valuable insights during the course. The organization also focuses on repurposing military veterans.

The Calexico POA extends its appreciation to GVPS for their service and for dedicating their time to this critical cause. The collaboration between the Calexico Police Department and GVPS exemplifies a commitment to continuous improvement and ensuring the safety of the community.
