The arrest, which took place on Friday, December 8, 2023, sheds light on the diligent efforts of law enforcement and the crucial role played by the community in ensuring the safety and security of the region.

The investigation unfolded when South County Patrol Deputies responded to a critical report of a suspicious vehicle near Highway 98 and Menville Road in Calexico, California. The vehicle in question, a grey Toyota Sequoia towing a trailer, was suspected to be linked to the ongoing agricultural thefts that had been reported in the Imperial Valley.

Upon arriving at the scene around 2 p.m., deputies swiftly initiated a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle. Initial examinations revealed stolen agricultural produce boxes within the vehicle, strengthening suspicions of Lara’s involvement in the reported thefts.
