US Military Fighter Jet Crashes Into San Diego Harbor; Pilots Eject to Safety
San Diego, CA - On February 12, at around 10:15 AM, a U.S. military EA-18G Growler electronic fighter jet crashed into a San Diego Harbor. Both pilots reportedly ejected safely before impact.
A U.S. Coast Guard spokesperson told 760 News that the pilots were rescued by a fishing vessel after being in the water for about one minute. Authorities confirmed that both pilots are in stable condition and recovering from minor injuries. Sources say they were taken to UC San Diego Health in Hillcrest.
Surveillance video posted on X by Jack Fishetti captured the moment of impact. In the footage, the jet appears to dive straight into the water. The official cause of the crash is still under investigation.
The aircraft reportedly went down in the waves just off Shelter Island narrowly missing residential neighborhood, directly across the bay from Naval Air Station North Island, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department. According to the New York Post.
