Riverside Deputies Seize 94 Pounds of Meth in I-10 Arrest near Spotlight 29 Casino

Coachella, CA - A joint operation between U.S. Border Patrol agents and the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office led to the arrest of two individuals and the seizure of over 94 pounds of methamphetamine worth over $113,000 on Interstate 10 near the Spotlight 29 Casino, officials confirmed.

The arrests took place around 10:00 a.m., according to the Chief Patrol Agent of the El Centro Sector. Both individuals taken into custody are U.S. citizens. Authorities have not released further details as the investigation remains ongoing.

In a social media post, the Border Patrol Chief referenced the hit TV show Breaking Bad while confirming the drug seizure.

“The Premier Sector presents an alternate ending to Breaking Bad: This wannabe Walter White had his dreams ruined at the hands of Indio agents in a joint operation with Riverside County Sheriff’s Office,” the post read. “Seizing 94+ lbs of methamphetamine means that this drug smuggler lost over $113K… He might want to find a new career.”

According to a picture posted on social media, the methamphetamine was concealed inside the side panels next to the rear passenger seats.

Officials have not disclosed the names of the suspects or whether federal charges will be filed. The investigation is ongoing.
