Teenage boy Found Deceased in Salton City After Being Reported Missing days prior.

SALTON CITY—A 17-year-old boy was found deceased Wednesday morning, March 26, after being reported missing the previous evening, according to the Imperial County Sheriff’s Office (ICSO).

The incident began on Tuesday, March 25, at approximately 8:09 p.m. when ICSO received a report of a missing juvenile in the Vista Del Mar area of Salton City. The teen was last seen at 2:00 p.m. after exiting a school bus at Nile Road and Camino Road. When he failed to return home, his family contacted authorities.

Deputies from the Salton City Substation responded immediately, filing a missing person’s report and entering the teen’s information into the National Missing Persons Database. Emergency phone pings were requested to aid in the search, but their low accuracy complicated efforts.

As the search escalated, ICSO deployed the De Anza Search and Rescue Unit, the Aero Squadron, and drones to expand coverage. A “Be On the Lookout” (BOLO) alert was also issued to surrounding law enforcement agencies.

On Wednesday morning, March 26, at approximately 8:14 a.m., the juvenile was found unresponsive in a desert area near Service Road and Harbor Road in Vista Del Mar. Deputies and emergency medical personnel responded, but the teen was pronounced deceased at the scene.

ICSO’s Criminal Investigations Unit, Scientific Investigations Unit, and Coroner’s Unit have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death. Authorities have stated there is no known threat to public safety at this time.

The Imperial County Sheriff’s Office and 760 News has extended its condolences to the teen’s family and those affected by the tragedy.
