Authorities have confirmed details regarding a shooting that occurred at the Country Life RV Park on Friday December 27, formerly known as the KOA Campground, located at 375 E. Ross Road in El Centro. The incident, which left two people injured, was reported to the Imperial County Sheriff’s Office at approximately 8:46 a.m. on Friday morning.
The victims include a mother who sustained a gunshot wound to her arm and her 11-year-old daughter, who was shot in the right side of her chest. Emergency responders, including the Imperial County Fire Department, AMR, and a life support helicopter, were dispatched to the scene. Both victims were transported to a local hospital for treatment, but their current conditions have not been disclosed.
The suspect, 22-year-old Daniel Jose Buzo, was arrested at the scene of the crime. He is being held at Imperial County jail on $25,000 bail. At the scene, investigators were observed using a drone to survey the area and setting up orange caution tape in the backyard of one of the residences. These measures indicate a detailed and thorough examination of the crime scene. The RV park’s quiet atmosphere was disrupted by the heavy presence of law enforcement vehicles and emergency responders, as authorities worked to piece together the sequence of events.
While no official motive has been released, officials confirmed the incident involved members of the same household. Witnesses described the scene as chaotic, with the life support helicopter landing nearby to provide emergency assistance.
