Chan Plaza Grand Opening Brings the Community Together

El Centro, CA — The newly renovated Chan Plaza, formerly known as Sambhi Plaza, opened its doors to the community on Thursday evening, bringing together city officials, local business leaders, and over 200 attendees for a night of celebration.

Located on Imperial Avenue across from El Centro Regional Medical Center, the plaza showcased its transformation into a bustling hub of over 16 diverse businesses. Visitors explored the plaza, enjoying tacos, drinks, live music, and even appearances by Mario and Luigi mascots that added a playful touch to the evening.

The grand opening featured a raffle with prizes that included gift certificates from the plaza’s businesses and Universal Studios passes. Proceeds from the raffle were donated to WomanHaven, a local organization supporting survivors of domestic violence.

Dr. Jeffrey Chan, owner of the plaza, emphasized the importance of community support during his remarks at the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

“This grand opening and ribbon cutting isn’t just for Chan Plaza,” Chan said. “When we filled up all the spaces a few months ago, we wanted to showcase all these wonderful businesses here and let people know about everything we have. Let’s keep supporting local because this will make our community thrive.”

The event highlighted the variety of services and offerings available at the plaza, signaling a new era for this community landmark. From dining and retail to professional services, Chan Plaza aims to become a cornerstone of local commerce.

Community members left the event not only with full stomachs and new connections but also with a renewed sense of pride in supporting local businesses that contribute to the growth and vitality of El Centro.

For those who missed the opening, Chan Plaza promises an array of opportunities to experience what it has to offer in the coming months.
