Calexico Police Seek Four Suspects in Gang-Related Shooting

Calexico, Calif. – The Calexico Police Department is actively searching for at least four suspects involved in a recent shooting incident that occurred in a quiet neighborhood on the west side of the city. While no one was injured, one bullet penetrated a home with people inside, raising concerns about the safety of the community.

The incident unfolded last Thursday during a seemingly peaceful afternoon, when residents reported hearing approximately four gunshots. According to the Calexico Police Department, a confrontation took place between two groups of individuals. Tensions escalated, and an exchange of words quickly turned into gunfire.

“Some words were exchanged, and at one point, someone opened fire… Again, no one was hurt,” explained Alexander Hernandez from the Calexico Police Department. The suspects reportedly used a semi-automatic handgun, and authorities were able to recover three shell casings from the scene.

What makes this incident particularly alarming is that it unfolded in a residential area where children were playing outside, families were having dinner, and residents were going about their daily routines. The discharge of a firearm resulted in one of the bullets penetrating a studio garage, eventually leading into a kitchen. This scenario could have had catastrophic consequences if someone had been hurt inside the residence, emphasized Hernandez.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the shooting incident, but the Calexico Police Department strongly believes that it was gang-related. The investigation is ongoing as authorities work diligently to locate and apprehend the four suspects involved in the altercation.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of community safety and the need to address gang-related issues within the city. The Calexico Police Department urges anyone with information related to the incident to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.

As the search for the suspects continues, the Calexico community remains vigilant, with the hope that such incidents can be prevented in the future.

Individuals possessing pertinent information are encouraged to contact the Calexico Police Department at (760) 768-2140.
