EL CENTRO - In the early hours of Tuesday, Aug. 1, a man identified as Omar Estrada was found with multiple gunshot wounds and airlifted to a Palm Springs trauma unit. The incident, which occurred in the vicinity of Euclid Avenue and 10th Street, remains under investigation.

The El Centro Police received initial reports of eight to 10 gunshots near the 7-Eleven on Adams Avenue and Euclid Avenue, but those reports were initially deemed unfounded, according to radio logs. However, a subsequent call from El Centro Regional Medical Center at 4:07 a.m. confirmed a gunshot victim in one of its rooms.

The victim, Omar Estrada, was reportedly shot nine times, as revealed by ECRMC staff during their interaction with the police. Estrada's girlfriend, who was present in the waiting room, informed officers that the shooting took place at the Jack in the Box located at Euclid and Imperial avenues.

Authorities conducted interviews with Jack in the Box employees, who pointed to the 1400 block of Euclid Avenue, east of the restaurant, as the likely site of the shooting. In their ongoing investigation, police plan to obtain security footage from Pizza Hut at Euclid and Imperial.

As of now, there is no specific information available regarding Estrada's current condition, apart from the fact that he was airlifted to Desert Regional Medical Center. The victim's age and city of residence have not been disclosed.

The motive behind the shooting and any possible suspects or leads have not been immediately made available by the police. The story is still developing, and authorities continue to work on gathering more details about the incident.
